Hi friends! DSDN is the non-profit organization that has been there for us since the very early days of receiving Oliver's Down syndrome diagnosis. We had no one else to turn to in those days. No one knew what we were going through, and those that did didn't always understand the emotions and fear we were experiencing. We searched online and found this wonderful organization. It has been there for us for the last THREE years+ now, since the days of our pregnancy. We have met real friends, received sound advice, been able to vent, ask questions, etc. with no judgement.
I have been to 4 yearly moms-only retreats for moms of kids with Down syndrome. There I have met other moms that I've only known online (hey y'all!) or not at all yet. Together we have learned, listened, bonded, cried, & laughed over all the ups & downs we're all facing. Everyone in this organization has a child with Down syndrome! Dad retreats also occur each year.
In 2023 I have joined the Medical Outreach Team and I attended my first conference representing DSDN. I went to Tulsa, OK to talk to doctors and med students at the ACOG Meeting for District 7. When I was telling our story, answering questions, and sharing the purpose of DSDN, I knew that was what I was supposed to be doing as a volunteer! In October 2024 I went to Hot Springs, VA to attend another medical conference. I am looking forward to doing more medical outreach in 2025!

DSDN is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit operated by two paid staff members and over 150 volunteers and funded by generous donations from supporters like you.
