Down syndrome. Also known as Trisomy 21. The MOST common chromosomal-related condition in the United States. Yet we had lived our entire lives without even really knowing anyone with Down syndrome.
Birth diagnosis. Fear. Guilt. Anxiety. Grief. Hormones and emotions. I felt so alone and was desperate to connect.
All that changed when I found DSDN, an organization dedicated to supporting parents right where I was. Throughout the seven years since then, they have continued to cultivate layers of support and an incredible community that I have relied on through thick and thin. How do you think I knew what to expect and what to ask for when Cole was in the hospital with mycoplasma pneumonia? Or how to ensure that he received supports like an AAC device to help him communicate?
DSDN is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit operated by two paid staff members and over 150 volunteers and funded by generous donations from supporters like you.
